The luscious vanilla and cinnamon notes of the rum enrich this already fantastic drink

How to make ...

Spiced Daiquiri

For this spin on the classic Daiquiri we’ve employed Cut’s spiced rum in place of the usual white rum to give this drink a more complex, spicy profile. The luscious vanilla and cinnamon notes of the rum enrich this already fantastic drink with an extra depth of flavour and character, transforming it from a simple sour to something with a little more nuance.

This drink is just as easy to make and drink as the original, following the same classic sour ratio of 4 strong to 2 sour to 1 sweet, we simply substitute white rum for spiced to create the spiced daiquiri.

Method

Chill a martini glass or coupette in the freezer or fill with ice
Using your jigger to measure add all ingredients to your Boston glass or shaker
Fill with cubed ice and seal
Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds
Double strain into your chilled martini glass or coupette
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge
Serve and enjoy

Equipment

Shaker
Jigger/Measure
Hawthorn Strainer
Fine Mesh Strainer
Elbow Press
Cubed Ice

History

The Daiquiri is one of the oldest and most popular rum cocktails around, this super simple and elegant sour is just a streamlined mixture of rum, lime juice and sugar and is a must-know for any bartender or cocktail drinker. There are hundreds of variations on this classic drink, from frozen fruity versions to extra strong Nuclear Daiquiris; there are likely very few twists on this drink that haven’t already been tried by someone at some point.

Howdy folks, Sasa here from TT Liquor. Today we’re going to do a twist on a Daiquiri. And for this, we teamed up with our friends from The Cut and we’re using their beautiful spiced rum expression, so I hope you enjoy it. Over to you, Kay.

Hi, this is Kay back here at TT Liquor, today I’m going to be showing you a really nice twist on a very classic rum cocktail. We are going to be making a Spiced Daiquiri. So this is just a classic daiquiri recipe but in place of the usual white rum, I’m going to be using some nice spiced rum instead.

And the first thing I need is some rum. And we’re using this really nice spiced rum from The Cut, which has got this really nice kind of vanilla-y, spicy flavour to it. Now we want 50ml or two shots of our rum.

And we want one shot or 25ml of our lime juice.

And we want about 15ml of our sugar syrup.

I’m just going to go ahead and fill that with some cubed ice. Nice big smack to seal it. And we’ll give that a shake for around about 10 to 15 seconds. Here we go.

And then I’m going to double strain this into the glass just so it’s nice and smooth. And for a garnish, I’ve just got myself a nice little lime wheel.

And that is our Spiced Daiquiri. Ready to drink.
