Absolutely brilliant time making cocktails. Kay was an excellent tutor and explained the history and the methodology of the drinks we were making. It was fun and interactive and an excellent day out. Highly recommended.

  • We came to the cocktail making class as a work social. Firstly, the drinks we were making were all delicious and proper boozy. Secondly, the room and the whole building are absolutely stunning and such a lovely setting to be in. Most importantly, our mixologist, Marcus, was an absolute gem. His instructions were very clear and his trivia unmatched. He had unwavering patience despite how rowdy some of us got towards the end and such positive energy.

Highly highly recommend and will definitely be back soon!

We have multiple venues across London. Although our flagship venue in Shoreditch, TT Liquor, is certainly worth a visit, we have a range of purpose-built venues spanning the capital. Why not explore and have a good look at each of our venues, check out the features and post-class activities, and see which one is right for your event?

Flagship venue in London

Had a great time at their Soho location for our Christmas party. Couldn't fault their professionalism, level of tuition, and - considering the amount we drank - the value for money, too. Will definitely be recommending. Cheers guys!

Inside flagship venues liquor store

TT Liquor, our flagship venue, is a multifaceted building with four floors dedicated to all things related to high-quality alcoholic beverages. As well as a liquor store, TT Liquor is home to a cocktail bar, cinema space, roof terrace, and a series of events spaces upstairs.

TT Liquor - Mixology Flagship venue in Shoreditch

Our flagship venue is located on the Shoreditch end of Kingsland Road, near Jaguar Shoes, just past the bridge.

The nearest train stations are Hoxton Overground, Old Street, Liverpool Street, and Shoreditch High Street – all of which are a short stroll away. We also have a wide range of bus options a mere stone’s throw from our front door.

View of bar area at TT Liquor cellar bar

Tucked away underneath our liquor store is our atmospheric cocktail bar, the Cellar Bar. Featuring low-hanging beams, a range of seating arrangements, and ex-Victorian police cells which we’ve converted into tasting vaults, the Cellar Bar enjoys a bustling trade with a number of locals and regulars sampling our seasonally-rotating cocktail list.

Regular live acts, as well as resident DJs, take care of the soulful soundtrack. Why not take advantage and head down for a nightcap after your class?

Inside TT Liquor, off licence

The face of the business, and the first sight to meet customers upon walking through our doors, is our specialist liquor store. Its hand-crafted wooden shelves are packed with a hand-picked and ever-rotating selection of rare bottles, customer favourites, and a wide range of produce from some of our favourite local independent producers. Have a browse before or after your class and see if there’s anything that takes your fancy.

Arial photo of roof terrace on top of the TT Liquor

Perched atop the building is the latest addition to the TT Liquor panoply – our urban private members’ roof terrace. Featuring panoramic views of the city, a seasonal cocktail menu, freshly-made pizza, and Prosecco on tap, this space can cater for groups of up to 80 and has already successfully played host to a range of branded and private events. Why not book it out for a few pre-or-post-class cocktails?

View of chairs inside the cinema at TT Liquor

TT Liquor’s labyrinth contains a fair few surprises, but none quite as good as the hidden 52-seat vintage theatre tucked away behind its liquor store.

Its considerable size, acoustics, and quiet location – set back away from the hustle and bustle of Shoreditch’s Kingsland Road – means it can be used for a wide variety of purposes. For example, as well as film screenings, it’s a great setting for business meetings, presentations, classes and workshops, and after-dinner speakers. So, if you’d like to host a presentation before your class, or perhaps watch a film afterwards, let us know and we’ll be able to arrange something for you.

Virtual Classes

The ultimate mobile class is one where everything, including equipment, tutelage, and ingredients is sent to your front door, no matter where in the world you happen to be! Our virtual classes are perfect for if you have colleagues who can’t come to a physical class due to travel or other restrictions. Nobody gets left out.

These classes, broadcast live via Zoom, follow a similar structure to our award-winning physical ones. The main difference is that we deliver all the equipment and ingredients in boxes directly to your door, anywhere in the world that may be, via UPS international shipping. Just add ice.

Equipment & interactivity

Each guest’s bar station is also equipped with all the necessities in every good bartender’s armoury, including stainless steel shakers, strainers, muddlers, bar spoons, Mexican elbows, and more. Having multiple pieces of each maximises the amount of time each participant spends getting hands-on making their own cocktails.

We teach you how to make (and drink) five cocktails behind your very own bar station. Our seasonally-rotating cocktail menus have a little something in there for everyone. We also offer non-alcoholic and vegan-friendly options for each drink, meaning nobody gets left out.

Cocktail sat on a bar top with equipment around it

Such a fun and wonderful experience! I expected to go in, make a couple of small cocktails in a large group but every time we each got a cocktail to ourselves and Kay was there to help us. Would recommend anyone thinking of booking to go for it, it was a lovely evening.

Cocktail Making Competition

Who doesn’t like a bit of healthy competition? We like to end every single one of our classes – whether private or public – with a cocktail making competition, judged by your learned tutor, whereby guests compete against each other to produce their very own cocktail creation using their newfound skills, and the premium equipment and ingredients available to them.

We find that this is a great way to showcase your creativity and character, and works fantastically for team events or competitive private classes. Bonus points for the best names!

We are able to tweak the number of cocktails in our line-up, the theme of the class, the format of the competition at the end of the session, or even tweak individual drinks to match dietary requirements or personal preferences, allowing us to tailor our classes to suit nearly every occasion imaginable.

We are also able to offer our classes both physically and online, tweak the start times and class duration/length to suit you, put on a series of rolling masterclasses, or split the cocktail making up for a break in between to help work it into a wider event. Simply let your dedicated event organiser know your requirements and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

On top of all this, we are able to bring our classes with us to you – wherever in the UK and beyond you happen to be. Great mixology class with Jamal! He made it fun, informative, and he went out of his way to incorporate requests and make recommendations so that everyone was satisfied. I would definitely recommend this as a team bonding event or even for a night out with friends!

Team

We have a dedicated and personal team of event organisers based at our flagship venue in Shoreditch. The same event organiser will stay with you from planning and booking your event, on the day and post-event.

Our entire team, from your hosts to our head office, have years of experience in the industry, and with Mixology Events. They each go through rigorous training to learn how to deliver the best events on the market. That means they are well-versed in the finer points of mobile cocktail events and will be able to organise site visits or chat over the phone to discuss the space in question and advise on any potential sticking points.

We’re more than just bartenders

Our hosts are of course experts in their field, but they’re also pretty damn nice people to have around. Event hosting is our business, and our experienced staff are masters at ensuring everyone is involved & well catered for. You don’t need to just take our word for it, either …

Cocktail class in a boat on the Thames

Thank you so much to Mixology Events for putting on a fantastic cocktail class for our team Winter Party. Thank you especially to Aicha, who was our instructor for the class. Aicha was incredibly professional and helpful, and she was especially amazing at making the class fun, entertaining and memorable.

Food

At Mixology, we’re almost as passionate about our food as we are about our drink, exemplified through our long-lasting relationships with a variety of supper clubs, pop-ups, and culinary up-and-comers.

More recently, we’ve teamed up with Cobble Lane Cured to curate a range of deli boards and bar snacks, available across all our venues and mobile events, which make for brilliant cocktail making class accompaniments. We have great vegan and vegetarian options for all of the above, meaning – as always – nobody is left out. We can also bring these with us and have them ready for your guests’ arrival.

If you’re looking for something a little bit more substantial, we have experience with a wide range of catering companies and restaurants so your event organiser will be more than happy to advise you on this in advance of your mobile class or event. We can also draw upon this experience to recommend what food works well to integrate into the class and which timings would work. You can even ask our team for recommendations or to organise caterers for your event, and we can be flexible on timings if you would like to have a meal pre or post cocktail class.

About us & Case Studies

Cocktail class in a large room
Mixologist showing a woman how to make a cocktail

Since being set up in 2009, Mixology Events has been dedicated to all things related to high-quality alcoholic beverages. We offer an extensive range of experiences – from tastings and bar hires, to award-winning 100% interactive cocktail classes which we’ve taken with us on the road to a huge range of venues across the UK and beyond.

Although we have a permanent home and purpose-built flagship venue in the form of TT Liquor on Kingsland Road in Shoreditch, we have hosted 100s of classes in a wide range of interesting venues and locations and we love to explore and push the limits of what’s possible.

Read on for some of our selected case studies and see if we can provide some inspiration for your event:

Case Study – Outdoor class in Hertfordshire

We took our mobile cocktail making class up to Hertfordshire for a hen party – we hosted the class outside in the sunshine!

The hens had rented a beautiful large house near Welwyn for the day, and the weather was absolutely perfect for al fresco cocktail making.

Our mobile classes can be taken almost anywhere – and we’ve done a number of events outside now, all of which have been great successes. It’s a great way to take advantage of the British summertime – check out the event we did for Procter & Gamble last summer.

Cocktail classes are also perfect hen party material – after 6 cocktails everyone seems to be in a good mood and up for a party!

We can host our cocktail classes at our new permanent home, TT Liquor, on Kingsland Road in Shoreditch or we can take them with us to almost any external venue of your choice throughout London or the UK.

...

Case Study – Class on 53rd floor of The Shard

Mixology Events hosted one of our masterclasses on the 53rd floor of The Shard, located at London Bridge, central London. The cocktail making class was for 40 people and took place soon after The Shard opened in February 2013.
The security at The Shard was appropriately tight, which we took into consideration when organising the logistics of the class – we made a location visit in advance which helped to ensure there were no difficulties in keeping to schedule.

We provided 8 cocktail bars, fitting 5 guests per cocktail bar station – allowing each guest their own workspace to maximise interaction and involvement throughout the class.

The Shard is a great venue to host our classes, providing unparalleled views and providing insights into such a significant building.

Case Study – Panasonic Masterclasses at the Oxford Belfry

We provided a tailored version of our cocktail making class for a joint event for Panasonic and Jessops at The Oxford Belfry hotel in Oxfordshire.

The event was designed to show off Panasonic’s new range of cameras, televisions and equipment – the 70 guests were broken into small groups of around 8 people, who circulated around a number of smaller activities, talks and presentations. We designed a mini version of our cocktail making class, which was taken by each group of 8 in turn – meaning we hosted 9 small classes in a row!

Our cocktail making classes were filmed on Panasonic’s new cameras and live broadcast around the entire event on widescreen televisions throughout the venue. As we had to take lots of classes, one after the other, and to a strict schedule, we had to make sure our clean up and turnaround times were efficient and organised – our mixologists were hosting classes one after the other from 10:30 in the morning to 5:30 in the evening!

Case Study – Cocktail Class with a view w/ Reed Smith

We love doing our mobile cocktail classes with a view – and what a view we had from The Broadgate Tower where we hosted law firm, Reed Smith.

The cocktail making class was on the 33rd floor of the 35 storey building near Liverpool Street with breathtaking views over The City and East London. Reed Smith are a global law firm, with more than 1,700 lawyers in 27 offices across the world – their London office is in Broadgate Tower itself, which was designed by architects Skidmore Owings & Merrill who also designed the Freedom Tower on the site of the World Trade Center in New York City.

Case Study – Cocktail Class at City Hall

Mixology Events hosted one of our mobile cocktail classes and a cocktail bar hire at ‘London’s Living Room’ on the top floor of City Hall – home of the Mayor of London – for CVC Capital Partners, one of the world’s leading private equity and investment advisory firms.

London’s Living Room is a breathtaking exhibition and events space on the tenth storey of City Hall – the unique spherical glass building designed by Lord Foster near Tower Bridge. The events space offers spectacular views over the River Thames and the City, sitting at the top of the 500-metre helical walkway that ascends the full height of the building – it is the perfect setting for prestigious private and corporate events.

For CVC we provided 14 of our mobile cocktail bars, providing ample room for the 75 guests to learn to design and create their own cocktails, whilst being taught by one of our expert mixologists. We have undertaken a number of successful events at London’s Living Room.

The security at City Hall is understandably tight, which we take into consideration when organising events – our experience working in the venue allows us to work out the logistics of our mobile cocktail classes with minimal fuss, ensuring our events there run smoothly and to schedule.

Case Study – Class at a Scottish manor house

Mixology Events took one of our cocktail making classes all the way to Scotland as the finale of a corporate team-building weekend in an ancient gothic manor house. The setting was impressive – one of the most spectacular places we’ve hosted our cocktail making classes – and well worth the trip.

There were some logistical issues due to the age of the building, but through prior correspondence and careful planning we were able to make sure the event went as smoothly as our regular cocktail making classes. The journey was long, but we made sure we arrived at the house before all the visitors and were able to set up in secret, so that the class came as a surprise to the guests.

Case Study – making cocktails on a boat on the thames

Mixology Events provided our mobile cocktail class experience for a boat journey that travelled along the River Thames, from Embankment to Canary Wharf.

We have provided our mobile cocktail class experience to a huge variety of clients at a range of weird and wonderful venues across the country – so we were more than ready when asked to provide cocktail services offshore.

We surveyed the site beforehand, taking into consideration all of the health and safety risks inherent in setting up a bar floating on the Thames. The gangway used to enter and exit the boat was thinner than expected, but we were able to adapt our plans to eliminate any problems that might have occurred.

Working this event was a great experience – the guests sipped on mixed drinks from our specifically developed custom cocktail menu whilst admiring the exceptional views of London provided by the location.

This event is a great example of how we genuinely can set up our mobile cocktail bars in any location you might wish – our mobile cocktail bars are solid and can be incorporated into any environment. If you need some inspiration, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! Or come visit our showroom and cocktail classes on Kingsland Road in Shoreditch, and speak in person to an event organiser.

Company Events Classes

We have over a decade’s worth of experience delivering classes to corporate groups, meaning you can trust us for our professionalism, discretion and efficiency whether you come to us or we come to you.

Great work event & team fun! Our host & mixologist Kay, was phenomenal! He never missed an opportunity to be inclusive, paid extra attention to the individuals that had mocktails and/or needed separate measurements and was professionally entertaining!

Hen Party

With only a small deposit to confirm the booking and choice of a cocktail or prosecco reception, and the ability to take our bars with us to a wide variety of locations, we have all the necessary ingredients for an ideal hen party! Any time, anywhere, for groups of any size. Your class is fully flexible. Make (and drink!) over 5 cocktails in your house, garden, holiday home, hotel, eco-lodge, at our purpose-built venue or at one of our partnership venues, all without compromising on our trademark interactivity.

Outdoor Classes

These days more than ever, fresh air and outdoor space are important factors for many of us when organising gatherings, and we believe our outdoor cocktail making classes are a great solution. We have a good deal of experience holding our cocktail making classes in the great outdoors. We can work ourselves into a wide variety of al fresco locations.

These are at their best during the summer months, but with more and more outside spaces becoming hirable and a range of heaters and other options available just let us know what you have in mind. Outdoor classes are never lacking in atmosphere, regardless of temperature!

Private Class FAQ's

Yes. If you take us on privately and have a location in mind, we are also specialists in bringing the complete set up with us. All the bars, with all the equipment, all the liquor, fresh products and ice. You simply let us know where you would like it to be and we set it all up in less than an hour and a half. We then offer the same experience you find at TT Liquor at any location you can think of.

All your really need is an empty space for us to come and set up in, we can come to offices, houses, gardens, tents, rooftops… as long as we have the space and the access we can set up anywhere, you don’t need anything on your side at all.

We’d recommend you allow a space of about a meter and a half depth and a meter and a half-width for each bar. That allows enough space for the bars to be set up and for people to stand behind them. The bars are assembled on-site and pack down to be fairly compact so there’s no need to really worry about door-width.

We’re happy to work with most spaces but for instance, in an office, it wouldn’t work in a room full of desks. We also try and avoid using spaces with lots of columns or other obstacles that might block people’s view of the instructor. Anything on a slope wouldn’t be ideal either. We are based in London and are happy to come and do a site visit anywhere in the city if you’re unsure whether or not your space would be suitable.

Absolutely, we can do a class at any time of day, week or year. We just need enough time to set up all the bars beforehand and break them down again afterwards. This is usually between about an hour and two hours either side of the class depending on the size. We can be very flexible when coming to you.

Depending on your group size we will need 1 ½ – 2 hours before and after your class to set up and break down. For classes of 60 upwards we may need more time but we will also bring a larger team!

All we need is a clear space to set up. We will bring everything we need to host the class including, the bars, equipment, glassware, ingredients, ice etc.

Yes we have hosted classes outside before, just be aware we will need a flat ground to set up the bars properly.

We are based in London but can travel anywhere you need us. We have hosted cocktail masterclasses in Scotland all the way to Cornwall.

Currently, we can offer; our classic masterclass, gin masterclass, rum masterclass, whisky masterclass, tiki masterclass, non-alcoholic masterclass, and virtual versions of all the above.

We are able to add food to most events at most venues upon request. At our flagship venue in Shoreditch, we have Good Fired Pizza who have taken up residence in our kitchen and are able to provide Neapolitan pizzas. We are also able to offer a variety of deli and charcuterie boards courtesy of Cobble Lane Cured.

Yes, it is certainly recommended. As you can imagine during two hours of making and drinking cocktails, it’s quite a good idea to line your stomachs. Even if the addition of food is a relatively last-minute decision, we will be able to cater to your needs if you get in touch with your event organiser at least 24 hours beforehand.

We usually serve pizza, bar snacks and deli boards at the beginning of your class with your welcome cocktail, but you can discuss this with your event organiser.

Yes we can offer vegetarian or vegan options, please ask your event organiser for details about our full range.

Shoreditch is packed with great places to eat, and you won’t need to spend an arm and a leg. A few we recommend are: Dishoom, Pizza East, Blues Kitchen, Princess of Shoreditch, 100 Hoxton, Tramshed. Click here to read our full list of recommendations, and for more information about what to expect at each.

No, there’s no dress code per se. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in, bearing in mind you will be on your feet for around two hours. If you’re coming in fancy dress, please ensure that you highlight this to your event organiser beforehand. Nothing too crude or crass, but generally you’re in a private room so you can come pretty much as you wish.

General Cocktail Class FAQs

We host the majority of our public masterclasses at TT Liquor, where we have 4 dedicated masterclass lounges that are fully set up when you arrive – freeing you up to make cocktails continuously for 2 hours without waiting for anyone to set anything up for you.

We provide you with your own professional bartender, who will be your dedicated host for the session. After putting together a reception cocktail for you and your guests, they will then guide you through 4 different cocktails, letting all your guests in on the various tricks of the trade to make your drinks taste better than ever. The perfect skills for your guests to take away with them to show off to their friends at their next garden party or barbecue.

You receive a welcome drink, make 4 cocktails each and in teams make a competition cocktail to present to the class.

No. Each bar comes fully stocked, so that everyone on that bar (max 5 guests per bar) can make cocktails throughout their masterclass, with no interruption and no standing around watching. At our flagship Shoreditch venue, we can perform a masterclass for up to 210 guests, all still receiving the same experience and all still making cocktails together!

Our expert bartenders are at the very top of their profession and are rigorously trained to deliver the best cocktail making experience possible for groups of up to 80. Their job is to be entertaining and engaging with all your guests, while simultaneously offering unparalleled insights on how to make your cocktails taste amazing. You may not get it right the first time around, but they will work attentively with each member of your group to hone their skills.

Yes, of course, we pride ourselves on our inclusivity and flexibility. We are able to seamlessly swap out alcoholic components with some of the best premium non-alcoholic products on the market, meaning nobody is left out. Please be aware that we cannot teach the molecular class as mocktails as the drinks rely on the alcoholic content to work.

Refunds & changes of plan

This will be shared when you make your booking, but we’ll need your confirmed numbers 7 days before the class is scheduled. This ideally will be conducted via email with your event organiser, who will send you your final invoice. If there are any changes less than 7 days before your class, it is unlikely that we will be able to amend the final invoice, so please keep in touch with your event organiser.

Generally, after a conversation with your event organiser about your event, you will need to put down a 30% deposit to confirm your booking and provide a home or company address to detail. This will all be sent over via email, along with the terms and conditions outlined. The final balance will be due a week before your class or event, generally once numbers are confirmed.

As soon as we receive a voucher order they’re sent out via first class post. Depending on how busy Royal Mail is, you’ll usually receive your physical vouchers in 2-3 working days.

  • Marcus was beyond. He was soooo knowledgeable and told us so much about the history of cocktails as well as amazing history about the building! Drinks were delicious! 10/10 recommend Marcus!!

  • Booked a Mixology masterclass as part of a surprise for my cousin’s hen do. To say everyone enjoyed it would be an understatement. It was absolutely brilliant! The two hours went far too quickly. We had a fabulous mixologist, Sean, who as well as teaching us how to make a selection of different cocktails, taught us a little about the history of cocktails too. It was very interesting, interactive and just so much fun!

  • Great event, organised for a Quarterly social in our office. Impressive setup for a large group of +30, with everyone getting involved making it a great evening. The cocktail makers were helpful and entertaining providing some really insightful knowledge and background to each cocktail. Would definitely recommend the night to a friend.
