History

The Mai Tai is a firm favourite among bartenders and cocktail drinkers alike. This classic tiki drink, like so many of its contemporaries, was invented by tiki legend Victor ‘Trader Vic’ Bergeron back in 1944. The Mai Tai was the subject of some contention, with Vic’s tiki forerunner, Donn Beach claiming to have invented the drink 11 years before, but most agree that this was in reference to his drink a Q.B Cooler which bore only a passing resemblance.

Either way, the Mai Tai went on to become Hawaii’s national drink and even featured prominently in the Elvis Presley film Blue Hawaii.

Hi guys, Sasa here from TT Liquor. Today we’re going to show you how to make a non-alcoholic version of our Mai Tai, which is on our current cocktail masterclass menu. For this we’ve teamed up with Caleño and we’re using two of their little spirits. And with Lyre’s where we’re using their Orange Sec for some nice spiciness and some citrus notes. So I hope you’re gonna like it and see you soon.

Alright guys, it’s Kay, I’m here at TT Liquor and I’m gonna be showing you how to make a non-alcoholic version of our new TT Mai Tai from our cocktail classes.

So we’re gonna do half and half of these two. This is a big old drink so I’m gonna do 40ml of each of these.

So we’ve got 40ml of the Dark & Spicy and then we’re going in with 40ml of our Light & Zesty.

Now next up, in place of triple sec, we’ve got some of this nice Lyre’s Orange Sec. And we want about 20ml of our Orange Sec.

We’re going with uh, the classic orgeat, and we want 25ml or one shot of our orgeat.

And we want about 30ml of our lime juice.

Just 20ml of our pineapple juice.

I’m just gonna go ahead and fill that up with some cubed ice.

Beautiful, pop my lid on, big old smack to seal it. And we’ll give that a shake for around about 10 seconds, here we go.

Alright, and then we’ll pop that open and we’re gonna serve this one dirty ice, so we don;t need to strain it. We’re gonna serve it in a hurricane glass. And we can just pour it straight in there like so.

And then we’re just gonna top it with a little bit of crushed ice.

And then, we;ve got a couple of garnishes to go in here, so I’m gonna get a nice big slice of orange, and then I’ve got some nice sprigs of mint here, and we’ll pop that next to our orange slice.

And that is our alcohol-free TT Mai Tai, ready to drink.
