How to make ...

Alcohol Free Mex on the Beach

For the non-alcoholic version of our Sex On The Beach twist, the Mex On The Beach, we use Caleño Light & Zesty Tropical Non-Alcoholic Spirit with peach syrup, pineapple juice and cranberry juice.

Method

Using your jigger to measure, add all ingredients to your Boston glass or shaker

Fill with cubed ice and seal

Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds

Strain into a high-ball or collins glass filled with cubed ice

Garnish with a strip of banana leaf

Serve and Enjoy

Equipment

Shaker
Jigger/Measure
Hawthorn Strainer
Cubed Ice

History

Like so many classics, the Sex On The Beach’s origins are steeped in vaguery and rumour, but the most widely accepted invention story for this cocktail is that it was created by Florida bartender Ted Pizio, who came up with the drink as a way to sell more peach schnapps and named it after the two biggest draws of spring break, ‘sex’ and ‘the beach’.

For our riff on this party-favourite we make it ‘mex’ by giving this drink a tequila base and swapping orange juice for pineapple. For our alcohol-free version we replace the tequila with Caleño Light & Zesty and use peach syrup instead of peach liqueur. The dry and citrusy Caleño gives the drink a distinctive tartness and the pineapple juice helps to give it a subtle, lingering fruitiness with a silky mouthfeel. This results in a pastel pink long drink with a foamy head and a fruity but complex flavour profile, a delicate balance between fun, fruity and grown-up that should appeal to almost everyone.

Hi guys, Sasa here from TT Liquor. Today we’re going to show you a non-alcoholic version of our Mex on the Beach, which features on our new cocktail masterclass menu. And for this we’ve teamed up with the guys from Caleño, which is a beautiful non-alcoholic spirit. It has everything you want flavour-wise, but with no alcohol in it. So it’s a tasty little number and I hope you’re gonna enjoy it. See you soon.

Alright guys, it’s Kay. Back here at TT Liquor to show you how to make the alcohol-free version of our Mex on the Beach, which is a kind of little tequila-twist on a Sex on the Beach.

For this one, in place of tequila, we’ve got some of this Caleño Light & Zesty Tropical Non-Alcoholic Spirit. And I want about 30ml of my Caleño.

And we’re gonna do about 20ml of our peach syrup.

And I want about 30ml of my pineapple juice.

And I want about 20ml of the cranberry.

So I’m just gonna go ahead and fill this up with cubed ice, whack the tin on, big old smack. Give that a shake for around about 10 seconds.

Fantastic, pop that open. And I’ll strain that right into the glass like so.

And then, I’m just gonna fill that with some fresh cubed ice.

And I’ll just pop one of those down the side.

And that is our alcohol-free Mex on the Beach, ready to drink.
