Cachaça, Lime, Fresh Fruit, Condensed Milk or Coconut Milk

We Recommend

The Batida is a Brazilian staple, made from the country’s national spirit, cachaça, a rum-like liquor made from sugar cane, and paired with fresh fruit and condensed milk. This moreish cocktail is essentially an alcoholic milkshake.

The Batida is a great cocktail for those looking to inject some summery, fruity fun into their mobile bar hire, the fruits used to flavour a Batida are limited only by your imagination and their availability. Popular flavours include strawberry, mango, passion fruit and guava, let your event organiser know in advance what fruits you’d like to include in your Batidas and they’ll be happy to arrange them.

If you want to include a dairy free version of the Batida on your menu the condensed milk can be replaced with coconut milk for a vegan friendly version of this creamy classic.

Batidas are generally blended so this drink can be a little slower to serve than some other cocktails and will require a power source. You may want to include some simpler drinks to help regulate speed of service at your bar hire, another great cachaça cocktail is the Caipirinha, this built mixture of cachaça, lime and sugar, is a simple but delicious cocktail to go alongside the heavier Batida.

The flip side of this is that if you are already including a blended drink on your menu, you could feature some other blended cocktails as well, some popular options include Pina Coladas and Frozen Margaritas, these drinks also pair brilliantly with the tropical flavours of the Batida.

If you’re planning on including the Batida on your menu and want to know more about what drinks might go well alongside it, be sure to speak to your event organiser about your options or check out some other cachaça based, fruity, or blended cocktails from our list.

A Batida is a twist on a Caipirinha, both drinks are based on Brazil’s national spirit, cachaça.

Originating from Brazil, in Portuguese, Batida means shaken or milkshake, the word also means crash. Along with the Caipirinha, the Batida could be considered the country’s national drink. As the Batida is really a creamy Caipirinha at heart we only really have that history to go on.

There are many theories around how the drink came to be — one of which suggests that a variation of the drink was used to help cure the Spanish Flu epidemic in the early 20th century and likely contained garlic, honey, lime and other strong natural substances—a variation of this is still used to this day to help cure the common cold.

The Batida has not spread from Brazil to the same extent as other drinks like the Caipirinha. The most popular Batida flavours are passion fruit and coconut, however, one also commonly finds guava, mango, or pineapple in these drinks.
