"The Empress Fizz is a great spring-time cocktail, with its light, herbal sweetness it embodies the cool, refreshing feel of a spring evening.."
The Empress Fizz is a beautifully floral long drink, that features the unique flavour of lychee, paired with herbaceous elderflower and zesty lime, topped with soda.
Take your Boston glass or small tin and, using your jigger to measure add the vodka, elderflower liqueur and lychee juice to the shaker.
Using your Mexican elbow and a jigger to measure, squeeze 25ml of lime juice and add it to the shaker.
Fill your shaker with cubed ice and seal using your tin or lid, before shaking vigorously for 10-15 seconds or until your tin is very cold.
Find a highball glass and fill with cubed ice.
Using your Hawthorne strainer, strain your cocktail into the glass before filling to the top with soda water.
Garnish with a tinned lychee, serve and enjoy!

The Empress is one of our house creations, designed as a spin on the Lychee Martini, as with most sour style cocktails, by simply serving the drink in a tall glass, over ice and topped with soda, the short, sharp sour is transformed into a long, mild high-ball.

Many other sours can be converted into fizzes with this simple tweak so if you’re planning on serving a menu populated by short, strong classics like the Daiquiri, the White Lady or the Empress, you can offer fizzed up versions of all these drinks for those guests who prefer a long, sipping cocktail.
The Empress Fizz is a great spring-time cocktail, with its light, herbal sweetness it embodies the cool, refreshing feel of a spring evening and is the perfect inclusion in a light, florally flavoured cocktail selection. Some other great floral, perfumed cocktails include the Aviation; a classic sour featuring gin, lemon and violet liqueur, or the Perfumed Fizz a simple mixture of vodka, apricot liqueur, lemon, grapefruit and soda.
This drink is a great example of a vodka cocktail and if you want to showcase more of what this versatile spirit has to offer there are a huge range of different vodka cocktails to choose from, some of our favourites include the Twinkle; an elegant mixture of vodka, elderflower and prosecco, and the 90’s favourite; the Cosmopolitan, an underrated mixture of vodka, cranberry, triple sec and lime.
If you’re thinking of serving an Empress Fizz as part of your menu and want to know more about what drinks might sit well alongside it, be sure to speak to your event organiser about your options, or check out some other vodka-based, house created and high-ball-style cocktails from our list.
